The best of fest 2010

I am about to leave Grahamstown - for another year - and I wanted to quickly talk about what was the best of fest for me. Honestly it has been such a brilliant year - it is rare that you get to see so much really good stuff... inspiring - bar raising - moving... and all that.

Janni Younge's new piece 'Obororous' is like watching moving art - it is SO beautiful honestly - making me very excited about the next project. Picture by Nicola van Rensburg

'London Road' by Nicolas Spagnoletti, directed by Lara Bye... wonderful beyond - the acting - the script - the direction - the simplicity of it all. Picture by Nicolas Strouchen

'Karoo Moose' by Lara Foot - fantatic - energetic - poignant - an absolute treat to watch. A massive cast - a hundred props - loads of costume - stax of singing - beautiful directorial choreography. Picture by Camilla Marsh

'Kaput!' by James Cunningham and his brilliantly talented cast - Women being men - revolving doors - cut-out puppetry - sardines - very very funny fantastic beautiful work. Picture by Dominique Little

'I Claudia' with Susan Danford, directed by Lara Bye. Subtle stunning performance and directing - wonderful set and sound design - I laughed and I cried - a lot. Brilliant script.

'Butcher Brothers' by Sylvaine Strike (Director) and Daniel Buckland (Story) - Fantastic full mask work - wonderful sound track - brilliant set - funny funny performances - really beautiful.

'Breed' directed by Brink Scholtz featuring Andrew Buckland. Another great ensemble piece - wonderful set - a big talented cast! Funny, moving... just fab really.

So that's it for this year - now home time.
